What Players Attitude to Overhaul Exotic Weapons in Destiny Patch 1.1

Recently Bungie released patch 1.1 for Destiny that caused a lot of players to rejoice, as Exotic weapons in the game had been given a major overhaul. They were told the weapons were coming "off of the workbench," meaning they would no longer be tweaked. To fully upgrade a weapon, as of patch 1.1, you would need an "Exotic Shard" to do so. Players immediately began upgrading their weapons by dismantling unwanted exotics for those shards. These shards will also be available from Xur, the weekend vendor that visits Destiny every Friday and Saturday.

The joyful experience quickly changed to despair when it was revealed by Bungie that any Exotic weapons that were fully upgraded would now need to be re-upgraded if you want it to be more powerful at the cost of an Exotic Shard. According to this month's Game Informer, it may also cost 7000 destiny glimmer. Fans on the reddit subforum reacted by creating multiple threads to vent their anger, with some saying their "Destiny Addiction Died." On the other side, some have accepted the change, offering suggestions on how to get ready for the DLC.

The main issue being brought up is that Bungie implemented massive changes to Exotic weapons, let players upgrade them to max, and then announced that you'll have to do all of the upgrading again a few days later. However, Bungie promised that progression on the 2.0 version of existing exotics will be a lot faster. We expect to hear more in the Bungie Weekly Update this evening.
